Pengaruh Jarak Polibag Terhadap Pertumbuhan Tanaman Cabai Rawit Setan (Capsicum frutescens L.) Varietas Sigantung

Abstract

 Cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.) is a type of horticultural vegetable that has small fruit with a spicy taste. This plant is cultivated by farmers because it is widely needed by the community, not only on a household scale, but also used on an industrial scale, and exported abroad. This research aims to determine the effect of polybag distance on the growth of cayenne pepper plants by watering catfish ponds. This research used an experimental design with variations in polybag spacing as the independent variable, and the growth of cayenne pepper plants as the dependent variable, which was measured through the parameters of plant height, number of leaves, leaf width, number of branches and appearance of the first flower. Catfish pond water is used as fertilizer for cayenne pepper plants. Based on the research results, it can be seen from the parameters of plant height (cm), number of leaves (helei), leaf width (cm), number of branches (branches) and appearance of the first flower (week-2), setting polybag spacing gave results that had no real effect on growth of cayenne pepper plants. However, it can be concluded that the polybag distance in the CS0 treatment gave the best results for plant height, number of leaves, leaf width and number of branches compared to the other 3 polybag distances. Cayenne pepper plants planted in polybags 30x30 cm apart reached an average height of 19.36 cm, an average number of leaves of 6.49, an average width of leaves of 3.57 cm, and an average number of branches of 3.21. branchThis is because the treatment is partially shaded so that the sun does not shine 100% of the treatment so that evaporation is not too high. Farmers are encouraged to further explore the influence of other variables such as soil type, watering intensity and sunlight intensity.
